DYLAN MORAN

Dylan Moran at the Manchester Palace Theatre
Saturday 18th October 2008 - 8pm, Manchester Palace

Dylan moran is fucking ace. If you dont believe me then go download Black Books, with the also brilliant Bill Bailey (where Bill’s brilliance in Black books is taking a back seat, and still being incredibly funny all the way through). However, it was always Dylan Moran who was intended as the star of the show, it was his show, and rightly so.

Its a mixture of pity and humour. You almost feel sorry for the guy even though he continues to wind you up. Its funny how at first he seems a fuckhead (always used to be pretty battered on stage), but now he’s getting on a bit he drinks mostly water. Now, from what you’d expect his act would dry up. But it doesn’t.

Its his personality thats funny, and that shows up in his stand up act. The lovable irish rogue who keeps you in a laughing mood for as long as he’s in your line of sight. Earshot actually.

Here’s a more intelligently written review from a website

“Known for his absurdist observation and unique brand of dry humour, Moran is a master of comedy combining his talents as an actor, writer and performer to incredible effect.
His stand-up performances continue to pack theatres, with sell-out runs in Australia, UK, New York, Los Angeles, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Gothenburg. Dylan is also the creative force behind Channell 4’s Black Books in which he appears as a foul-tempered eccentric and drink-fuelled proprietor of a grubby book shop who would really rather not have customers if he could help it
.”

Now seeing as I’ve nicked a bit of their text I should give a link to some tickets from there.

I will be going after all.
